Thankful for KNON
Just a quick note to thank everyone involved in making Blue Lisa’s Thanksgiving Live Broadcast a success. It was a lot of fun and I’d like to acknowledge those who contributed.
Blue Lisa, host of Big Texas Blues every Thursday from 9 to noon, played no small part in making the event happen. In addition to MC’ing the event she performed a song with K.M. Williams.
Besides K.M. Williams, we were treated to great live music from Aaron Burton, Gregg A. Smith (host of KNON’s Friday morning Blues show), and surprise guest Jackie Don Loe (and his ‘band in a box’). I got to play a number and back Gregg on acoustic guitar, which is always a treat.
The door was staffed by KNON stalwart W.C. who can be heard assisting Texas Trevor every Monday from 4 to 6 PM. W.C. is one of those invaluable KNON volunteers that we couldn’t function without.
Chef Ivan of the Alligator Café (4416 Live Oak, Dallas 214-821-6900) delivered the food early on Thursday and it was, as usual, spectacular! The Alligator Café is a kind sponsor of both KNON and the local Blues scene. You can often enjoy live Blues while dining on Chef Ivan’s delicious fare at the Alligator Café.
Mary staffed the buffet table and how she managed to do so without constantly nibbling at all that delicious food is a mystery to me. Big Jim Wells ran the mixer for the live sound both in the room and that went onto the air.
Station manager Dave Chaos worked behind the scenes to keep everything running. Outlet not working? Need an extension cord? Need a quiet place to change or rehearse? Dave was to go-to guy, assisted by his family, of course!
Last but certainly not least, many thanks to the KNON listeners that joined us for the live broadcast. Most of the time the on-air staff at KNON are by themselves at the studio. It was a real treat to have a live audience that enjoys the music we love. I hope that those of you who were unable to join us in the studio were able to listen to the live broadcast while preparing for your own Thanksgiving feast.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all of the blessings in our lives. I am grateful for all of the wonderful people that make a radio station like KNON possible.
