Obie Obermark hosts “Texas Cookin’”, the Tuesday Renegade Radio show, bringing you two hours of “country-rockin honky-tonk stomp and roadhouse with a twang”.

Averaging 30 songs in two hours, Texas Cookin is very fast paced and features mostly new music, with a generous scattering of favorites from the last 50 years, as well as local pickers.

Favorite artists get Birthday Tributes with extra servings of their music, crowned by two full hours of Steve Earle every Jan., and there’s frequent impromptu themed sets tossed in.

Don’t expect a lot of talking, as Obie’s motto is “shut up and play music!”. Favorite artists include Steve Earle, Max Stalling, Guy Clark, Dave Alvin, Hank, Chris Wall, Paul Burch, Tommy Alverson, Tom Russell, Lounge Lizards, etc.

howdy and some plugs

Hello Obie,

Rene' here from World Piece cafe' .  Hope you and yours are well.  I dig what you're spinnin'...play me a little T-Roy and Candace Miller as well though... to warm us up for Pickin' in the Pines coming up soon...and from my SHAMELESS marketing department: T&C will be at WPC this Friday; i hope to see you there.

Obie, you go to see this shameless plug for Steakmaker.

Put my smoker up for sale on Craigs list and did a video that plugs Texas cooking & Obieque products as well.  Take a look when you get a minute.  Hoping that it will help pledge drive and get Texas Renegade up to 24-7.

Search Craigs list for: Medium size Smoker on trailer - $600 (Mansfield)

That will take you to the ad that has a link to the video on youtube or I guess you could just go to youtube and miss the pictures and the commentary.

What was that song?

On Tuesday March 2's show an old country song was played that ended each verse with "adios Jodie Blond." Can you tell me the name of that song and who sang it?

song title for Kinky D

The line is "adios jo le blan" or however you spell that French stuff.

The song is Guy Clark's  "South Coast of Texas"

and the shrimpers and their ladies are out in the honky-tonks

drinkin 'em down before they sail with the dawn

They're bound for the Mexican Bay of Campche

and the deck hands are singing adios jo le blan
